Students honored by NHS at Indian Creek High School

The Indian Creek High School chapter of National Honor Society recently made student of the month awards to four students at the school.
Teachers were asked to nominate one student at each grade level on the basis of outstanding characteristics in scholarship, character, leadership and service.
Students honored by the club this month are Jill Ankney, freshman; Maria Johantges, sophomore; Belinda Renner, junior; and Kay Koenig, senior.
Jill, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Ankney of Nineveh, is Involved in tennis, cheerleading, basketball, Girls' Athletic Association, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Pep Club. Her outside activities are swimming, water skiing and softball. Plans for the future are undecided.
Maria lives with her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. David Nesbit, in Morgantown. She is active in the school band, playing the flute, and also serves as band secretary. She is a member of Future Educators in Action. Her outside interests include cooking, decorating cakes, reading, running and all sports. She plans to attend college and become either a physical therapist or a physical therapist assistant.
Belinda is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Renner of Martinsville. Her school activities include Future Educators in Action, Girls' Athletic Association, Pep Club, Sunshine Society, Superintendent's Student Advisory Council, Student Council, track manager and junior class secretary. Her hobbies are horseback riding, cooking, hiking and swimming. She plans to attend Indiana University and major in physical therapy.
Jay is the son of John J. Koenig of Nineveh. He is active in the Church of the Lakes Youth Group and is president of the school band. His hobbies include racquetball, water skiing, golf, playing the guitar and snow skiing. He plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to study architecture in a six year program, and then try to establish an architectural firm.
